Welcome to our first Works On Paper Exhibition of 2022! Drawings have always been the realm of the connoisseur, they encourage a more intimate engagement.
Watercolour is a master medium, it is the immediacy of the medium and the way the pigment responds on your paper to your personal emotional response to your subject. It is as direct of a medium as can be, there can’t be any hesitancy while you are painting. You have to decide where you will place each brushstroke of colour and then let it do its magic.
In a world overwhelmed by large-scale installations or performative works or videos on digital devices, our curation of this collection seeks to illustrate the artistic range and integrity or drawings and watercolours which we hope will appeal to a broad range of collectors, from novices to experts.
Since the Renaissance, drawings have been valued for their spontaneity and directness. Historically, drawing was central to artistic training and still remains key to the way most artists work, offering fascinating insights into the creative process and methods of artists.
Many works of art on paper by leading artists and those of significant aesthetic and historic importance are still reasonably priced and more affordable than other media. Works on paper can represent an important investment and either form the core of a collection or complement works in other media.
