About Masterpiece

This month, swarms of art collectors, curators and dealers are due to descend on Masterpiece London, one of the finest cross-disciplinary art fairs in the world, to make the rounds and see what’s on view. Since 2010, the intimate fair, held at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, has featured 150 exhibitors of fine art, and with a careful juxtaposition of disciplines, the fair offers visitors the opportunity to discover beautiful works of art spanning eras and styles. Vetting

The vetting of all exhibits at Masterpiece is undertaken to uphold the integrity of the Fair. The combination of exhibitors together with the high standards set by our vetting is paramount to the success and excellence of the Fair, giving confidence to all who visit.

Every exhibit at Masterpiece is vetted by a team of over 150 leading international specialists comprising scholars drawn from all areas of the art world, including museum curators, conservators, auctioneers, dealers and galleries. 27 individual Vetting Committees examine each piece in their own field to ensure that the exhibit is worthy of exhibition at Masterpiece.

Masterpiece Travel Information

Masterpiece London is a short walk from Sloane Square, located at – South Grounds, The Royal Hospital Chelsea, London, SW3 4LW. Masterpiece kindly request that visitors do not drive to the fair as only a limited amount of space is available which is reserved for disabled visitors. Please find information on alternative travel below.

Parking

Masterpiece offers onsite parking for blue badge holders only. However if you are looking to drive to Masterpiece, we have located the closest car parks to the event, some of which offer pre booking to guarantee you a space.

Sloane Square – 81 spaces
Battersea Park – 180 spaces
London Victoria – 422 spaces

Sydney Street – 30 spaces
Nell Gwynn Garages – 50 spaces
Chelsea Cloisters – 140 spaces

Shuttle Bus

Masterpiece also offers a shuttle bus service, which is complimentary to all visitors. This will provide regular transport between the fair and Sloane Square, Battersea Park, Victoria, Mayfair and St James’s.

Walking

Pedestrians should use Barrack Gate on Chelsea Bridge Road. Please note that this gate closes at 20.00 each evening. Thereafter visitors can exit via the Bull Ring Gate.

Taxi

The taxi drop-off and pick up point will be situated at the Bull Ring Gate entrance on the Embankment.

Tube

Sloane Square tube station (on the District and Circle Lines) is a 5-10 minute walk from the fair, and Victoria main line and tube station is a 15 minute walk away. However, the shuttle bus also runs from near to these locations.

Bus

Bus numbers 11, 137, 211, 360 and 452 stop closest to the Royal Hospital Chelsea, while bus numbers 19, 22, 319 and C1 stop at Sloane Square.

Rail

London Victoria is the closest train station to Masterpiece London. For information on rail services, please visit the national rail website here.

Cycling

If cycling to Masterpiece London, please use the Bull Ring Gate on the Embankment. Bicycle racks are close to the main fair entrance.

The Ivy Chelsea GardenChelsea, SW3 5EQ

The Ivy has been one of London’s favourite restaurants since the 1920s and its iconic Covent Garden premises are a Mecca for London’s theatrical community to this day.  Set in an Edwardian house on the King’s Road, the Ivy Chelsea Brasserie is open seven days a week and comprised of a main restaurant, extensive terrace and garden, orangery and a beautiful private dining room, offering tranquil al fresco dining all year and the perfect setting for any occasion. The extensive menus at The Ivy Chelsea Garden have been created by The Ivy Collection’s Executive Chef, Sean Burbidge, and are designed to offer an eclectic mix of modern British comfort food and international dishes.

The BluebirdChelsea, SW3 5UU

The Bluebird Café is a Chelsea landmark on the Kings Road and an all year round oasis, and during Summer months the space is transformed into a verdant garden in bloom. Bluebird’s first-floor Restaurant underwent a complete refurbishment in 2016, at the hands of Sagrada, designers of The Arts Club and Sartoria. The light, bright, elegant space was transformed with mature trees, wild flowers, herbs and bespoke textiles from British fashion icon Celia Birtwell. When it comes to the food you can expect an array of delicious dishes from modern European menus, with a selection of small plates and sharing dishes designed to fit around Bluebird’s signature sociable vibe.

MedlarChelsea, SW10 0LJ

Located on the King’s Road, Medlar is an independently owned restaurant from Chef Joe Mercer Nairne and Front of House manager David O’Connor. The restaurant opened in April 2011 and has gained many exemplary reviews over the years and have built a fine reputation for food and service as well as gaining many loyal customers and we are always striving to be one of the very best neighbourhood restaurants in London. The style is French based but takes inspiration from all over. A love of food drives Joe to the kitchen, and he strives to cook food that is first and foremost satisfying to eat.
