Edward Noott Exhibition

2nd November - 24th November 2017

Event Overview

Trinity House are excited to announce the opening of an Edward Noott exhibition in our London gallery.

The goal Noott has set for himself as an artist is to present and personalise beautiful and inspiring places. This exhibition sees him explore various destinations both cityscapes and countryside scenes, where he has brilliantly captured the warm sunlight and its effects on the stunning surroundings.

In particular, Noott pays homage to Claude Monet in his pond studies which depict the same subject matter as Monet’s famous ‘Waterlilies’. Noott has used much brighter whites and blue tones throughout to add a freshness to the water’s surface, whilst his soft brushwork helps to form works that are markedly less abstract than Monet’s.

In his own words the artist said, “Using the painterly qualities of tone and color, my aim is to interpret the subtleties and nuances of time and place to create lucid and harmonious paintings at home and abroad.”

Edward Noott was born in 1965 and took a Foundation Course at the Cheltenham College of Art. He later studied at Trent Polytechnic College of Art, where he gained a B.A. – Fine Art Degree and later attended the State University of New York, Oneonta, N.Y.

He has participated in many one-man and group exhibitions in America and in the UK since 1990. He has also exhibited regularly at the Royal Institute of Painters in Oils, Royal West of England Academy and various Affordable Art Fairs.

He has won many awards including: 2003 and 2015 Royal Birmingham Society of Artists – Open Exhibition, Best Painting, 2004 Royal West of England Academy – Purchase Prize. His work is held in collections across Europe and the U.S.A.
