This striking piece by Georges Mathieu sculpted in 1985 is reminiscent of the sculpture he made for the sports centre in Neuilly a few years earlier on 7th January 1982. He created several such monumental sculptures, mainly for the Tour Elf-Aquitaine of La Défense, and for the town halls in Orléans, Boulogne-Billancourt and Brive. This sculpture is a small bronze model is influenced by the work done for the Neuilly sports centre. Ten editions of this size were made in polished bronze and this is number five. Editions were also made in gilt bronze and bronze with gold patina.

This is one of very few sculptures made by Georges Mathieu and would be a rare and lovely addition to a discerning buyer’s collection.
