Two Sides of the Story, Part Two is from a highly popular series which explore the concepts of relationship and compromise. The series is made up of combined pairs of canvases that are all painted separately before being attached to one another. By applying colour upon colour, sometimes more than thirty layers deep, in an array of extremely bold and stimulating colours, Salcedo is able to create the illusion of depth. Through his paintings, Salcedo explores concepts of human emotion, rather than figurative subject matter. He hopes paintings such as this one will give the viewer an internal experience.
