Paul Sieffert (1874-1957) favoured subject were of relaxed women who were often nude and this painting is no exception. Here, the naked model lays asleep on a silken divan, seemingly unaware that she is being painted. Sieffert has not only successfully depicted the women’s silken flesh but also her opulent surroundings with its silk covers and patterned wallpaper.
