Salisbury portrays the charisma and mystique of Maude Fealy (1883 – 1971) superbly in this portrait. Fealy was an American stage and silent film actress during one of the most magical eras in film history, her career spanned from 1900 – 1958, and Salisbury has captured the elegance and the atmosphere at a period when Fealy was at the pinnacle of her career.

Fealy was a Southern Belle of showbiz stock, and highly regarded as an actress, playing many leading roles. She was one of the few in the business who survived the jump from the silent film era to talking movies. As well as playing leading roles, she co-wrote and starred in many of her own plays and also toured the British showbiz circuit.  Fealy was a life-long friend of Cecil B De Mille, the founding father of the cinema in the United States, appearing in most of his sound films including The Ten Commandments (1956).
