This bold work by Claude Venard draws the viewer into the hilly landscape. His strong geometric shapes coupled with his wide, chromatic colour palette makes the viewer feel as though the rough uneven rocky ground is beneath their very feet. The dominating hillside with his strong green colour and the rough impasto of the cloudy sky enchants the viewer and urges them to explore the beautiful landscape.
