Le Puy-en-Velay, France is a beautiful depiction of a rural idyll by the French Master, Gustave Cariot. The colours are rich without being overbearing and the use of warm yellow hues adds a lovely sense of balance to the composition. Additionally the sense of perspective used by Cariot where the viewer is looking up at the trees from below makes them feel as though they have been transported into the scene.

Le Puy-en-Velay is a town in southern France. It is known for the green lentils grown in the area, and as a gateway to the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage trail. Using his post-impressionist technique, Cariot has depicted the lush greenery this area is famous for.
