Nature is a big inspiration to Glover, often telling of his enjoyment for walking and his great love of the outdoors. The visual world fascinates him and his eyes interpret the landscape as space and light. The shapes and rhythms he sees in the landscape form a poetic language in paint long before he picks up a brush, absorbing colours and textures in a spatial thrill. When he begins to paint to capture those visual moments of elation, he is engrossed by the challenge to depict them onto a flat surface: making marks that invite the viewer to share the joy that Leigh experienced in the real outdoors.
