Here A P Sargent melds his talent for the abstract with elements of a figurative landscape. The hilly plane of Carbis Bay is silhouetted across the base of the work, beneath a spectacular sky-scape of colourful clouds. To refer to this piece as ‘Stormbringer’ evokes a sense of drama and the sublime. Green and red are ruptured by the strong sunlight; the impression created being one akin to the colourful sunspots that dance across the retina, having looked into a strong light. The effect of this being printed onto glass adds another layer to our experience of the work as it glints and reflects light, clearly an important element for the artist.
