Artballing

by Michael Vaughan

P.O.A.

Contemporary British artist, Michael Vaughan combines his previous career as the former England cricket captain and his love of art to create unique pieces of art that are full of energy.

This work is part of his ‘artballing’ series where Michael uses the interesting technique of painting each cricket ball a symbolic colour and then batting it against a stencil over sheets of canvas and improvisation over the top. Each work has a story woven into it as the cricketing legend relives some of the memories he has had over the years, putting them on the canvas and creating artistic impressions.

‘It is a very rare thing to be able to follow a career path that you love and the opportunity to combine my two greatest passions – art and cricket – has been a sublime moment in an extraordinary life of highs and lows, dreams and sometimes nightmares,’ Vaughan said. ‘Artballing captures the drama, speed and excitement of cricket in one precious, dynamic visual moment that, unlike the perfect six, lasts a lifetime.’ – Michael Vaughan.
